Frac(Pe)tal
: Interactive media spaces
Work roles : Concept planing / Project development / Model mock-up / Projection visualization / (basic) Arduino programming
Fractal interactive sculpture interacts and inspires participant with fractal characteristics, which is self-similarity and infinite iteration. The sculpture changes movement speed when people are approaching or moving away. Mirrors are applied in order to emphasize the “infinite” property of fractals. During the sculpture movement, the reflective lights are projected everywhere such as on the floor, on the wall and on the ceiling. The property of fractal is very useful and the usage of it can be very valuable. However, the knowledge about fractal is not very widespread, especially fractal in art and design.
Technical approach
Arduino, DC-Motors, Light sensors, LED, Ultrasonic sensor.
Fractal motion is visualized and animated in NodeBox program and applied colors in Aftereffect.

Reading is a way to wisdom
: Interactive media spaces
Work roles : Concept planing / Project development / Model mock-up and construction / Projection visualization / Motion animation
This interactive media is a combination of light projection and concrete object (a book). Alice animation will be projected on the right page when the participant open the book, using tracking technology. The interesting part of this project is that it is half digital and half analogue. Nowadays people use mostly internet to access informations. This project is for everyone, children and adults to remind them not to leave books behind. The goal is that to persuade people to keep reading, to be more patient and to realize that knowledge in books is a way to wisdom and also imagination. This project is a mutation of the classical novel “Alice in wonderland”, which has a mystery and surreal story behind.
Technical approach
VVVV program After Effect , Photoshop PS3 Camera, Two projectors
Project designer : Chosita Raksaseree
Programmer : Simon Weckert

Interactive Plant
: Interactive Sculpture
Work roles : Concept planing / Project development / Model mock-up and construction / (basic) Arduino programming and circuit construction
The Interactive Plant will close its body in order to protect itself when people approach it. It will bloom again when people are not close to its critical distance. Interactive plant sculpture was made out of paper. The main concept idea is to show that plants are alive. Even if every plants cannot obviously move, but they live peacefully. They grow pretty slow and cannot protect themselves from invaders. As we are human, we should realize that plants are alive and protect them from the destroyer.
Technical approach
Arduino, Servo motor, Ultrasonic distance sensor Plant sculpture made out of paper. Sculpture base made out of wood.

Pollen Space
: Interactive media spaces
Work roles : Concept planing / Project development / Model mock-up and construction / Projection visualization
The Pollen Space project is a media space utilizing “Pollen” as impetus. Pollen, the male gamete that fertilizes the female ovule, is the origin of a plants life cycle. It is transported by water, wind, insects, or other animals. In The Pollen Space, the conceptual visualization of pollen operates and performs by casting a moving shadow throughout the space. This movement imitates the pollen grain’s behavior. The sound and the visual design of The Pollen Space are intended to make people feel relaxed and chilled. The purpose of my project is to translate the conceptual geometrical understanding of pollen and integrate it into spatial design. The Pollen Space allows the spectators to approach another dimension of the intelligence of nature. The spectators see and recognize it from the inside out instead of the outside in.They perceive it as a space and not as an object.

The Hidden Dimension in Nature
: Concept visualization / Photo collage on 3D object
Work roles : Concept planing / Project development / Photos shooting / Model mock-up and construction
This project deals with natural texture and model making skill. I experimented with photos and environmental space design, using several material, such as paper, transparency foil, mirror, reflective paper, needle, thread and some dried plants. Mirror is used to emphasize and reveal the hidden dimension in nature, which is geometrical structure and elements.
